Double-Hung Windows are the most popular window type. Modern versions have a tilt-in sash for easy cleaning of the outside panes. In double-hung units, both sashes slide vertically. The ventilation area can vary from a small crack to an opening of one-half the total glass area. Half or full screens are placed on the exterior of the window unit.
