Who We  Are                                                                 

Alan was born and raised in Scott Depot, WV.  He is the son of Harold and Freeda Maddox.  Alan graduated from Winfield High School and Marshall University.  He worked for Union Carbide/Dow for approximately 30 1/2 years as a clerk, carpenter, planner, and work area coordinator. 

Rose was born at Deepwater, WV.  She is the daughter of William Harper, and the late Thelma Harper.  She graduated from East Bank High School and attended  WV Tech.  Rose's parents owned and operated Harper's Jewelry Inc. which had stores located in Montgomery and  Summersville (which were closed in the 1980's) and Belle WV, so Rose was brought up in the retail business. 

Alan and Rose attend Emmanuel Baptist Church in Charleston WV where Alan was the full time pianist for 14 years and Rose sang in the choir.  Alan resigned from the pianist position at the end of 2009 and Rose resigned from the choir.

Alan and Rose still attend Emmanuel Baptist Church and are active in organizing the Southern Gospel Sings that take place in the church.  They have been doing this since 2007.

Our Business

Alan and Rose formed A & R Contracting in 1996 and worked this part-time until 2004.  In 1999, they bought the jewelry store in Belle from Rose's parents.  While Rose managed the jewelry store, Alan went full-time in the contracting business in 2004, after being laid off from Dow Chemical. 

The jewelry store was closed in January 2006 and Rose went to work with Alan. 

The contracting business incorporated in 2006 and the name changed to A & R Remodeling Inc. In 2006 they  started to specialize in the window business.   After some training in Atlanta in August 2006, Alan and Rose became part of The ClearChoice Window Family.   They formed a DBA of CCUSA-Charleston WV (ClearChoice Windows Charleston WV) .  In 2011 the time had come to provide more services and a better selection by forming a new dba(ALAN & ROSE WINDOWS & DOORS).

While they both do the selling, Rose runs the office and showroom during the day, while Alan and his crew install the windows.  Since Alan is a finish carpenter, he can do a little more than install windows.  We do trim work, enlarge openings and make openings  for windows, install doors, and much more.
